The GIDC-ePPM searches alternatives that complement the teaching that
is imparted to classrooms and laboratories with the preparation of new
educational material that can be used in non-presence credits by the
self-instruction as well as by the selfevaluation.
THE
GROUP
The
group of Educational Innovation in Structure, Properties and Processed
of Materials (e-PPM) was formed in the year 2003 in the approval of
the Unit of Materials Science and Metallurgical
Engineering of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy
in order to agglutinate a series of specially worried teachers for imparting
a teaching of quality and offer to their students the opportunity of
training more broadens that the one that could be given in those moments
due to lack of hours school.
The
new technologies were presented like a specially valuable tool for achieving
the goals. The Group was recognized by groups of Educational Innovation
(2003GIDVC-UB/07) to the same year for the University of Barcelona in
the call. Once the Department of Science of the Materials and Metallurgical
Engineering (2005) had been created, the Group continued working in
their goals and in year 2006 it was recognized by the University of
Barcelona such as Group of Educational Innovation Consolidated (2006GIDC-UB/33).

In year 2008 it has been renewed by the University of Barcelona like
Group of Educational Innovation Consolidated (2008GIDC-UB/33). One of
the assets that the Group is more satisfied is the heterogeneity of
their components, which enriches it in knowledge, as well as in experience
and skills. The process of implantation of the European Space of Higher
Education has validated the goals of the Group and motivates them to
continue working.
The
group has designed and has carried out, in collaboration with the Unit
of Support to the Teaching, the following Applicatives:
- AUTOMAT
is a program for the selfevaluation. For each subject there are 25
questions of different level, with four possibilities of answer and
so much you use one correct. The student can evaluate his degree of
knowledge of each subject and know it is necessary to him in which
points to penetrate.
- DEIWEB
is a tool in the that the students of Chemical Engineering can learn
to select the best material for a determinate very concrete and simple
application. It is a matter of the student internalizing the methodology
that allows him to manage to choose the best material depending on
some previous requirements based on the mechanical design. The program
has positioned on the platform MOODLE.
- MICROMET
is a data base with different metals and alloys. A card can be found
by each one with nomenclature, composition, classification, microstructure,
properties, diagrams of phases and of thermal treatment. Find marked
the key words and a glossary. It is complemented with a survey of
evaluation of the applicative and an e-mail for consultings. As a
complementary tool for the teaching a questionnaire has been prepared.The

- PROCER,
taking the MICROMET
as a model, an applicative has been carried out in that different
ceramic materials are picked up with their compositions, raw materials
used by obtaining them, products that form them, macro and microstructures,
diagrams of phases, methods of obtaining, properties of being shaped
and applications.
