Presentation

The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy was created on 27th april, 2005, under the auspices of the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona.

The Department activities involve teaching, research and tecnology transference in a wide range of materials, including metals, ceramics, polymers and composites.

Nowadays, the department offers graduate work leading to 4 degrees (Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Physics) and employs about 70 members, comprising the academic staff, the support staff, postgraduate students and postdoctoral research workers.
